Abstract

In the paper, a new species of rudist is described. The fossil was found in Cava Romana (Roman querry) near Aurisina, Italy, in limestone of the upper part of the Borgo Grotta Gigante Formation which is of the Upper Senonian age. Only the right valves which exhibit broad specific variability are available. The valves are up to 4 cm long with thin shell and long, strong and abundantly branched ribs. The ligamental ridge is not developed. The structure of the layer is lamellar.
