Conodonts from Amphiclina beds and Bača dolomite
Abstract
Along the Davča river in Upper Carniola two Upper Triassic lithological associations occur. They are 1. shale and limestone that make the so called Amphiclina beds, and 2. Bača dolomite and limestone. The stratigraphic position of the Amphiclina beds has already been reported by another authors. Conodonts retrieved from this formation prove the interval Upper Tuvalian-Lower Lacian substage. Halobia determined from the formation prove the interval Upper Tuvalian-Lower Lacian substage. Halobia determined from the limestone intercalated within the Bača dolomite points to the Norian stage. Nevertheless the Bača dolomite itself has been considered to be devoid of fossils. The present author however succeded in finding platform conodont element of Epigondolella postera in the lowermost portion of the Bača dolomite. Thereby the interval Lacian-Sevatian substage is indicated.Downloads
