The barite-bearing carbonate-clastic sedimentary succession at Pleše lies apparently concordantly upon the Permo-Carboniferous clastic sediments. It is slightly discordantly overlain by the Anisian dolomite. The Scythian age of the formation is defined according to macrofossils. Taking into account all characteristics of the Pleše barite-bearing formation and correlating them with wider area, it is obvious that they are very alike the barite- bearing Scythian beds in the Gorski Kotar area as well as the lower part of the carbonate- clastic succession south of Kočevje. The sedimentary stack which is limited by two discordances has been designated as barite-bearing formation due to its special development and contents of barite. After the village Pleše near Ljubljana, where it is exposed, it is denominated the Pleše Formation.Downloads
