Abstract

Two different granitic-metamorphic complexes can be distinguished in Prosara Mt. The Hercynian complex consists mostly of cataclastic and phyllonitized gneissgranites and amphibolites. Rocks of the Alpine metamorphic complex are much more widespread. They were formed under low- and very low-grade metamorphism from surrounding Upper Cretaceous sediments. The gradational changes can be traced in pelitic, psammitic, carbonate, and basic igneous rocks. Upper Cretaceous age both of original sediments and low-grade metamorphic rocks is supported by microfossils. Alpine metamorphism of Prosara Mt. can be related to subduction processes.
