Geothermal model for the Krško-Brežice Field

Abstract

The Krško-Brežice Field area is known for its numerous thermal springs, appearing on its Southern and western margins. Data analysis and recent interpretations indicate that the origin of elevated temperature is due solely to differences in heat conductivities between rocks infilling the syncline (of the Field) and those of the calcareous Mesosoic basis, whereas the heat-flow density is within average values. At the given geological build-up, thermal waters may be expected in greater depths for the wider Field area and in shallower depths for the hinterland areas of the already known thermal springs.
