Application of stable isotope analyses in paleobiological studies of Karnian bivalves from Lesno brdo
One of the major question of the integrated study approach to the paleobiology of the Karnian bivalves from Lesno brdo was to what extent each of the abiotic and biotic factors controlled the community structure. Indices obtained from techniques of faunal analysis have demonstrated that a high stress environment must have controlled this highly structured community. A synthesis of the results of the comparative oxygen and carbon stable isotope analysis of bivalve shells and rock matrix, faunistic analysis and established physical parameters of the environment suggests mixohaline conditions as the main community structure controlling factor.
