Abstract

Several small rivers have their sources in the Southern hinterland of the Ljubljana Moor. At the places where the streams issue from the narrow mountain valleys upon the fiat moorland, the slopes of their hydraulic grade lines suddenly decrease. That is why large quantities of loose carbonate rock material have been deposited in the shape of open fans sloping gently and convexly outward under the lake deposits of the Ljubljana Moor. Some preliminary details are given on the waterbearing alluvial fan of the river Želimeljščica. Author postulates an underground communication of the different alluvial fans and an important aquifer in the depth of the Ljubljana Moor.
