Abstract

Discussed are Pannonian molluscs found in the surroundings of Čanje near Sevnica. Prevailing are gastropods of the genus Melanopsis and some rare specimens of the genera Theodoxus, Congeria and Lymnocardium. The most abundant are specimens of the species Melanopsis vindobonensis Fuchs, 1870. Found species and sub-species determine the Lower Pannonian age of the rocks. Molluscs in the Upper Miocene rocks at Čanje can be compared with the Pannonian molluscs of the Vienna Basin and some other sites in the Central Paratethys.
