Abstract

The Pb and Zn ores of the Mežica ore deposit underwent during diagenesis of ore-bearing carbonate rocks, and also later, during epigenetic processes, drastic structural and other changes, so that very few original structures of the sedimentary genesis of ore remained. According to their form and their spatial position, two systems of ores may be distinguished: the concordant and the discordant one. Concordant ores occur more or less parallel to the bedding or to the paleorelief of certain levels of Middle and Upper Triassic carbonate rocks, while the discordant ores occur either in fissures, along post-Triassic faults and fault zones, or appear without clear spatial connection with stratification or faults. In the present proceedings the main characteristics of ore and ore-bearing rocks are presented, as well as the problematics of their genesis.
