Abstract

Two samples of clayey marl taken from an exposure in the clay pit of Hom in the Savinja valley are characterized by nannoplankton and by dinoflagellates. In the nannoplanktonic association the species of Cyclicargolithus floridanus is the most abundant form associated with the genus of Pontosphaera and the species of Zggrablithus bijugatus. By the nannoplanktonic assemblage the middle part of the biozone Sphenolithus distentus (NP 24) is indicated which corresponds to the uppermost part of the Middle Oligocene and to the top of the dinoflagellate biozone of Wetzeliella (Wetzeliella) gochtii recognized from the Middle Oligocene of Western Europe.
