It is slightly discordantly overlain by the Anisian dolomite. The Scythian age of the formation is defined according to macrofossils. Taking into account all characteristics of the Pleše barite-bearing formation and correlating them with wider area, it is obvious that they are very alike the barite- bearing Scythian beds in the Gorski Kotar area as well as the lower part of the carbonate- clastic succession south of Kočevje. The sedimentary stack which is limited by two discordances has been designated as barite-bearing formation due to its special development and contents of barite. After the village Pleše near Ljubljana, where it is exposed, it is denominated the Pleše Formation. ER -
