Abstract

Shale and slate are rock names, which are very often the cause of our doubts. In the field of anchizone, where sedimentary rocks transit to metamorphic rocks, it is often difficult to defend one or another name, without recognizing the opposite opinion, too. Besides considering physico-chemical, structural-textural and last but not least mineralogic-chemical parametres, the best for quick use is to agree upon how we are going to call this particular kind of rocks and to which stratigraphic level they belong. Practical suggestions for their definition are given in the present paper.
