Abstract

The Ptujska Gora sandstone was named after Ptujska Gora where Saint Mary’s church stands in which objects made of this sandstone occur. Since in the wider surroundings of Ptujska Gora Badenian marl prevails, we consider this name not appropriate for geologic terminology. The quarries of the sandstone are situated about 4 kms south in the brook Vundušek valley. We propose therefore to rename the Ptujska Gora sandstone into the Vundušek sandstone.
